It is barely possible any more for ‘normal’ administrators to fully master the complexity of a SAP system network. Incorrect system settings in the SAP system, operating system or database frequently lead to serious security flaws. Constantly new software components with their own system parameters and authorisation set-ups increase the risk of loopholes in the system remaining undiscovered. The system of user rights and roles is very complicated. This leads to there being too many users with administrator rights working on the live system and nobody being really able to monitor what they are doing.
SAST GRC Suite for SAP
With its modular approach, SAST (System Audit and Security Toolkit for SAP R/3) offers assistance on all issues related to SAP security. All checks are always performed on a system-wide basis across all clients. The SystemTrack module includes numerous functions for analysing and increasing the security of SAP systems using automated procedures. The AdminTrack module enables defined administrators and support users to activate a predefined emergency ID at a click of the mouse and to utilise this after describing their planned activities. With the help of the UserTrack module all sorts of very comprehensive questions about the SAP authorisations system can be quickly answered. SAST records all activities during the support session and provides the report to an auditor by e-mail or online. Administrators can thus work in the normal mode and without SAP_ALL.
